Did you know...
the distinctive mane of adult male lions is a unique feature among
cat species? It is thought to serve several purposes.... It makes the lion
appear bigger and helps to intimidate other lions during confrontations.
It may also help in attracting females and can also protect the vulnerable
neck area during any fights. The size and colour of the mane is affected by
various factors... genetic precondition, maturity, climate or habitat.
