An Important Chapter in the Bushcamp Company Story. Andy Hogg, Co‑Founder and Long‑Serving Managing Director
The Bushcamp Company was founded in 1999 by Andy Hogg and Andrea Bizzaro, with a vision to create an authentic safari experience rooted in the unique landscapes and wildlife of South Luangwa National Park. What began as a small, pioneering operation would grow over the next two decades into one of the region’s most recognized safari companies.
Over more than two decades, Andy served as Managing Director, playing a central role in guiding the business through a period of growth and increasing recognition within the South Luangwa Valley.
During his tenure, the company expanded its bushcamp circuit, strengthened its operational foundations, and contributed to the development of South Luangwa as one of Africa’s most respected safari destinations.
Working alongside a long-standing team of guides, staff, and partners, this period helped establish many of the elements that continue to define the Bushcamp experience today — including its emphasis on walking safaris, remote camps, and a deep connection to the landscape.
During this time, Andy made important and significant contributions to the company's conservation and community initiatives across the Luangwa. These efforts — including support for local education, community infrastructure, and conservation partnerships — were developed and implemented in collaboration with dedicated staff, local stakeholders, conservation organizations, and supported through a combination of guest contributions, company resources, and ownership backing.
Andy stepped down from his role as Managing Director at the end of 2025, following a planned transition period that began in 2023.
His contribution forms an important chapter in the history of The Bushcamp Company, which continues to evolve in its long-term commitment to conservation, community, and the South Luangwa ecosystem.
