Discover the Soul of South Luangwa.

A safari with The Bushcamp Company is more than wildlife viewing—it’s immersion in Africa’s most authentic wilderness. From thrilling game drives and legendary walking safaris to African sunsets, sundowners, and starlit dinners, community experiences, expert guiding, and other curated adventures, every moment is crafted to connect you deeply with the land, its people, and its untamed beauty. Whether you seek adrenaline, intimacy, or quiet reflection, our experiences redefine what it means to truly be in the wild.

NIGHT DRIVES

Often taken for granted, the night drives in South Luangwa can create some of the best memories of your safari. At night, a whole new cast of characters fills the landscape.

Our night drives take place on your way home from a sundowner — no rush, as we don't have to leave the park. Not all African national parks allow them. South Luangwa does.

WALKING SAFARIS

The walking safari was born in the South Luangwa — and at BCC, it remains a part of our guiding and bushcamp heritage.

Optional but unforgettable, you will be on foot with guides who know this valley better than anyone. Geared for all and optional at all bushcamps; lodges on request.

PRIVATE GUIDE AND VEHICLE HIRE

Your guide. Your vehicle. Your pace. A private safari means every decision is yours — when to go out, what to look for, how long to watch, and any other choices you want to make. No compromises with anyone else.

Available at all BCC camps.

SUNDOWNERS

When you experience a sundowner in South Luangwa, it infects your soul — but only in a good way.

As the sun sinks below the horizon, you are served an ice-cold drink and something to nibble on. But the real satisfaction is being in the middle of the African bush, watching the sky turn, and realizing you are a part of a magical moment.

SPA TREATMENTS

There are spas everywhere. There is only one Bush Spa cantilevered over a hippo lagoon in the middle of South Luangwa National Park. Whatever treatment you choose, the setting does half the work — the sounds of the bush, the water below, the complete absence of the world you left behind.

Available at Mfuwe Lodge.

ELEPHANTS IN RECEPTION

That lodge where the elephants walk through.

Each year at Mfuwe Lodge, whole families of elephants visit between late October and mid-December to feast on the fallen fruits from the large Wild Mango tree in the lodge grounds.

VIEW

COMMUNITY VISITS

Step into the Mfuwe community for a glimpse of the people and projects your stay supports. Kick a football at the school, see the work being done on the ground, and connect with the community that shares this valley.

Complimentary and available from Mfuwe Lodge and KuKaya For a deeper experience, ask about our Giving Back heritage activity.

NEW — THE BUSHCAMP HERITAGE CLUB COLLECTION

Walk in the Luangwa Valley as its first explorers walked it — by firelight, under canvas, across the river, and at the edge of the wild.

We created the Heritage Club because this valley means everything to us. We wanted to add that little something extra — so you leave understanding why.
