2027 Rates — A Note to Our Trade Partners and Guests
Thank you for your continued trust in The Bushcamp Company. South Luangwa National Park remains one of Africa's greatest wildlife destinations, and we remain fully committed to delivering the exceptional, authentic safari experience it deserves.
For 2027 we have made some changes worth explaining — to our rates, our seasonal structure, how we categorise our six bushcamps, and how we present our full portfolio. We want you to understand the thinking behind each one.
On rates
Our 2027 rates reflect a modest increase across all six bushcamps. This is not a decision we made lightly, and it reflects several realities of operating in one of Africa's most remote and logistically demanding national parks.
The Zambian Kwacha has strengthened significantly against the USD, increasing our Kwacha-based operational costs across staff, supplies, maintenance, and conservation contributions. Local inflation continues to impact wages, provisions, and fuel. We have held rates at accessible levels for several years and believe this adjustment brings us appropriately in line with current market standards for the quality and exclusivity we deliver.
Beyond costs, the increase also reflects tangible improvements to the product — Wi-Fi now available at all camps, ongoing refurbishments, enhanced sundowner experiences, and new game viewing loops and other improvements in our exclusive-use area that guarantee the privacy and wildlife density our guests experience in the southern sector of the park. Every booking continues to support our conservation and community programs, and the small supplement adjustments allow us to expand that impact.
We believe our rates reflect fair value for what is, genuinely, one of Africa's finest safari experiences.
On our new two-tier structure
After careful review of our past pricing practices, we concluded that individual camp-by-camp pricing had become unnecessarily complex for trade partners and guests. We have simplified this into two clear tiers:
Signature Camps — Chindeni, Bilimungwe, Chamilandu Set on prime river and lagoon locations, these are BCC's most iconic camps — elevated luxury, exceptional privacy, and the kind of settings that define a South Luangwa safari at its finest.
Classic Camps — Kuyenda, Kapamba, Zungulila Classic bushcamps in their truest sense — intimate, rustic, deeply immersive, and the authentic experience that The Bushcamp Company has been renowned for since our founding. No less extraordinary. Simply a different expression of the bush.
All six camps share the same exclusive area, the same exceptional guides, the same farm-to-table food, and the same commitment to the guest experience that defines BCC.
On the Villas at KuKaya
For the first time, the rates for the Villas at KuKaya are included directly in our main rate sheet rather than on a separate document. We know this has caused confusion in the past and we are glad to put it right. KuKaya is an integral part of the BCC portfolio — our premier gateway villa experience — and it belongs alongside everything else we offer. One rate sheet. Everything in one place.
On the Family House at Mfuwe Lodge
You will notice that what was previously called the Director's House at Mfuwe Lodge has been renamed the Family House. This better reflects the purpose and spirit of the property — a private, fully self-contained villa ideal for families, groups of friends, or guests seeking the ultimate in space, privacy, and flexibility at Mfuwe Lodge. The property itself is unchanged. Only the name has been updated to more accurately describe the experience it delivers.
On seasonal dates
We have made minor adjustments to our seasonal date structure for 2027 to better reflect actual wildlife patterns and operational realities in the valley. Full details are in the rate sheet.
