BCC's Walking Safari Journey
For safari purists or an utterly new safari experience — four to five hours on foot each day through the birthplace of the walking safari, ending in a deep understanding of why this valley is so special.
This package is for the guest who understands that the best way to experience South Luangwa is on foot. South Luangwa is the birthplace of the walking safari — and this journey honors that completely. Beginning at Zungulila, the quietest and most remote camp in our concession, and moving east through Kapamba, Bilimungwe, and Chindeni, each camp sits a little closer to the river, each day a little more connected to the landscape.
The walks between camps are the heart of it — four to five hours on foot through open woodland, sandy riverbeds, and riverine forest, with the same guide throughout. Your luggage travels ahead by vehicle. You travel by foot. By the time you reach Chindeni and its sweeping lagoon on the final two nights, the valley will look different to you than it did when you arrived. Not because it has changed, but because you have learned to read it.
One night is complimentary, applied to the lowest-rated night on your itinerary. Guests arrange their own Lusaka connection and Mfuwe flight — our reservations team can assist with recommendations.
